Abstract:
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE AR-SA Class-Ionomer cements include calcium aluminosilicate glass and fluid component of acrylic acid. An important property of these cements is chemical adhesion to enamel and dentin and releasing anti-caries fluride. Clinical use of these cements involves filling erosions without cavity preparation, preventive dentistry and filling class V and llI cavities. In addition, another desirable property of these cements is their biocompatibility with tissues and dental pulp. /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal" mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0 mso-tstyle-colband-size:0 mso-style-noshow:yes mso-style-priority:99 mso-style-qformat:yes mso-style-parent:"" mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt mso-para-margin-top:0cm mso-para-margin-right:0cm mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt mso-para-margin-left:0cm line-height:115% mso-pagination:widow-orphan font-size:11.0pt font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif" mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin mso-bidi-font-family:Arial mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi}

A clinical study of glass ionomer cement.
The aim of this investigation was to compare the clinical performance of a glass ionomer cement (GIC) with a composite resin when used for direct bonding of standard edgewise orthodontic brackets. Fourteen patients (10 females, four males), in whom 242 teeth were bonded with brackets, were divided into two groups: GIC (121 teeth) and composite (121 teeth). The brackets were allocated to alterna...

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the retention of glass ionomer sealant, Vitro Molar® (DFL) and Ketac Molar Easy Mix® (3 m ESPE) as pit and fissure sealants on first permanent molars, fully or partially erupted. Methods The study sample consisted of 412 molars, among 110 children. The sealant retention was evaluated after 6 months of the application. Results The results were coll...
full textA Comparative Evaluation of Microleakage of Glass Ionomer Cement and Chitosan-modified Glass Ionomer Cement: An in vitro Study
OBJECTIVE To do a comparative study of microleakage of glass ionomer cement (GIC) and chitosan modified glass ionomer cement and evaluate which exhibited lesser microleakage. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty freshly extracted sound primary molar teeth were obtained. Two groups of samples were created for the study which comprised of group I (glass ionomer cement-GIC) and group II (Chitosan modifie...
full textReinforcement of Glass Ionomer Cement: Incorporating with Silk Fiber
The aim of this study was to synthesis of glass ionomer-silk fiber composite and to evaluate the effect of adding natural degummed silk fiber on the mechanical properties of glass ionomer cement (GIC). For this purpose, natural degummed silk fibers with 1 mm in length and 13-16 µm in diameter were added to the ceramic component of a commercial glass ionomer cement in 1, 3 and 5 wt. %. Compressi...

BACKGROUND Dental caries is the most prevalent communicable disease in the world amongst the population of the children. OBJECTIVE To compare the outcome of restorations in primary molars using two Glass ionomer cements Ketac-Molar, a Glass ionomer cement (GIC) and Vitremer, a Resin modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) in small and medium sized cavities. METHODOLOGY A randomized controlled...
